On June 18, the "AI Education Practice Course Community", hosted by the Ningbo (Hangzhou Bay) Youth Student Practice Base, officially opened. Over 70 representatives from the education sector across the country gathered to discuss pathways for implementing AI education and provide innovative solutions for the intelligent transformation of hands-on inquiry-based learning practice education.
The event established a five-dimensional exchange platform integrating "government, industry, education, research, and application". Representatives from 29 national camps, technology companies, and cultural tourism organizations engaged in keynote reports, hands-on course demonstrations, and roundtable discussions. They aimed to address key challenges such as AI curriculum development, teacher training, and resource integration, exploring new ideas to advance the application of AI education in hands-on inquiry-based learning practice.
The base has pioneered a new educational paradigm through AI-driven innovation, adopting a dual-track approach to restructure its curriculum system. One track deeply integrates AI tools into subject teaching to empower school education, while the other creates immersive practice scenarios covering programming, art, and culture. This allows students to deepen their technical understanding through virtual-real interactions and enhance their innovative practical skills. The base has also collaborated with educational authorities to establish a three-tier promotion system for the Ningbo Qianwan New Area’s Education, Culture, and Tourism Bureau, namely "demonstration camps - regional implementation - school adoption". This initiative aims to build a regional AI education resource-sharing platform. By systematically integrating high-quality educational resources, the base has created a comprehensive support system spanning curriculum development, teacher training, teaching evaluation, and after-class services. This fosters an AI practice education community, developing mechanisms for collaboration, resource sharing, and sustained growth while providing a platform for regular professional exchanges.
"The base will aim to become a national-level AI education hub, continuously deepening the integration of AI across all educational scenarios," said the Base's Director. The next steps will focus on three major initiatives, i.e., cultivating a matrix of specialized courses, advancing teacher competency, and establishing an "AI” hands-on inquiry-based learning achievement incubation park. Leveraging Ningbo's industrial strengths and cultural heritage, the base will develop an "AI+X" specialized course cluster, found an "AI Hands-on Inquiry-based Learning Education Research Institute", and create a digital literacy certification standard for teachers. The plan includes training 300 "seed teachers" with AI curriculum development capabilities within three years.
